Exodus & The Wailers - " Traffic Jam "
When i have heard this CD for the very first time, the first thing that i've think of was, what year i am 2000 or in the seventies ? The year 2000 has choose to be the international introduction of a new force in world music. The legendary "WAILERS" have been searching for someone to replace the masterful "BOB MARLEY" ever since his death , and have tried many and various front people over the years. Finally the time has come where "THE WAILERS" believe they have found those front persons, "EXODUS" . Thanks to the songwriting talents of "EXODUS" , this new act have produce original material of a high calibre, "Rootsman Style", the title track, the brilliant "Godhead" with the dub version "Creator Dub" and Child Minder" are my favourites, have been recorded and mixed at Kingston Music Studios, Jamaica last year (99) and no doubt that they can and will do for the modern era of international Reggae what "BOB MARLEY & THE WAILERS" did in the past.
Exodus are : YOHANN NARAIN - LEAD VOCALS & ADDITIONAL RHYTM GUITAR - With todays line up of Exodus and The Wailers, Yohann is in effect continuing in the footsteps of the late Bob Marley with a mystical likeness to the King himself not only in singing style but also in his ability to create hypnotic, meaningful and original songs of a high calibre. Powerful stage presence and the ability to captivate an audience are reminiscent of the past combined with a fresh modern sound for the future and RANI NARAIN - ADDITIONAL LEAD VOCALS & HARMONIES - Rani for years has managed to combine the attributes of a beautiful lead singing voice and sweet, choral harmonising ability in one awesome stage personality. A real performer she has enabled Exodus to attract a multitude of fans through her sheer charisma and strong vocal contribution. Her intensity ans self assurance are attributes to a lady giving the world a new look at female vocalists.
The Finest Rhytm Section that have suply this Enormous album : ASTON 'FAMILY MAN' BARRETT- BASS GUITAR - Aston and his brother Carlton were the original rhythm section of Bob Marley & The Wailers. Aston and Bob together produced the majority of Marley's catalogue and gave it the familiar sound that is known worldwide. Aston has since led the Wailers successfully for the past 18 years with his unique ans captivating style of playing bass, MIKEY ' BOO ' RICHARDS- DRUMS - Mikey is the successor of the late, Carlton Barrett. He has developed a drumming style which has an uncanny resemblence to his predecessor, giving The Wailers the same authentic reggae sound. His style has enabled him to be respected as one of Jamaica's premier drummers, having recorded with most of reggae's international artists, EARL 'WIRE' LINDO- ORGAN & CLARINET - Wire , known as the 'Bubbler' was Bob Marley's original organ player. He invented the well known 'bubbling' effect of organ playing, which is an integral part in all forms of reggae. Wire's musicianship and sound are infectious and his performances are breathtaking to watch, OWEN 'DREADY' REID- LEAD & RHYTHM GUITAR - Dready has successfully continued the great guitar work that has been legendary to The Wailers. His raw edged rhythm and his melodic, tasteful lead playing are acredit to him. His creativity and talent are clear to see, along with a fine tuned musical mind, which has seen him tour the world with many fine artists, IAN WYNTER - KEYBOARDS & SYNTHESISERS - Ian started as a keyboard player in the days of Bob Marley and even performed in a few shows with the original band. In recent years he has become a permanent member of the Wailer's. His musical style and ability are well suited to The Wailer's double keyboard sound and his experience and knowledge of his instrument are an asset to the currenet line -up, OLIVE 'SENYA' GRANT- HARMONIES & BACKING VOCALS - Senya is another member who has been involved with the Wailer's for many years and is now responsible for continuing the beautiful harmony singing that was customary to the original sound created by the I - Threes ( Bob Marley's female backing vocalists ).
